About

MeMy name is Joni and I’m little.  How little, you ask?  I stand at just under 5 feet tall.  Welcome to my blog mostly about reading and writing.

A little about me:  I was born in Anchorage, Alaska in 1972.  I grew up in Oregon, went to college in Oregon and Utah, and lived in Colorado for seven years.  I currently live in Texas.  I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, emphasis Sports Medicine.  I’m married to a great guy and the proud Mommy of three awesome kids (now grown).  I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom for most of my adult life, which is the best job ever. Now I’m looking to start a career for myself as a writer.

My love of writing stems from my love of reading.  I’ve always been a great reader, devouring books from a very young age.  Writing does not come easy to me and I didn’t develop a love for it until well into my adult years.  In about the year 2000, I joined a writing club with some friends and tried my hand at short stories.  I surprised myself with how much I enjoyed it, but my kids were young and it was hard to be consistent.  After that, health problems and other life events kept me from writing often.  I finally got back into writing early in 2012, setting a schedule and creating stories I’ve been proud to share for the first time.

I write Middle Grade contemporary, fantasy, and science fiction. Occasionally I write Young Adult in the same genres. I’m represented by Carlie Webber at Fuse Literary.

When I’m not writing, I like to dabble in photography, crochet, play random apps on my iPhone/iPad, take naps, do yoga (and other exercise), and watch movies.  I also teach children at church on a regular basis. I am a devout Mormon.

I’m a terrible blogger.
